Shrimp Stir Fry Noodles
November 9th, 2022Easy to Make, and Full of Flavor
If you love a bowl of stir fry noodles, then this yakisoba-style spot prawn stir fry will easily become a mainstay in your repertoire of recipes. It’s easy to make, full of flavor, and on the table in about 30 minutes. Yakisoba is a popular Japanese stir-fried noodle dish, inspired by elements of Chinese cuisine. Flavored with oyster sauce, soy sauce, and lime, the salty, savory sauce is the perfect complement to sweet spot prawns. Alternatively, try using a smaller species like sidestriped shrimp.
How to Make Stir Fry
The key to making a good stir fry is having all of the ingredients prepped and measured out before you start cooking. With this preparation, stir fry noodles come together effortlessly and quickly. Make sure you have all of the vegetables chopped, your sauces within reach, and your spot prawns peeled so that you’re all set to cook.
Pro tip: Check out our blog post on how to peel spot prawns for the easiest experience when you’re prepping your prawns. If desired, you can reserve the spot prawn shells in the freezer to make spot prawn stock at another time.
What Is Oyster Sauce?
A common ingredient in Chinese cuisine, oyster sauce is a typical addition to stir fries, like our recipe for a crab stir fry. It adds a savory, salty, and sweet layer of flavors to the dish, and has a saucy consistency that melds well with whatever ingredients you have in the pan. You can find oyster sauce at your local grocery store in the same aisle where you'd find soy sauce or hoisin sauce.
If you don't have oyster sauce in your kitchen now, you can also try substituing teriyaki sauce or hoisin sauce to acheive a similar saucy consistency to the dish — though the flavor profile will be different.
