No Tricks, All Treats This Week with Sweet Seafood Inspo

October 28th, 2021

Embrace the Savory With the Sweet This Season

There’s nothing like Halloween to get me thinking about candy — but not the kind you’re thinking. I’m talking about Salmon Candy, Homemade Sockeye Salmon Candy, the snack of all snacks, a perfect amalgamation of savory-sweetness that truly gives a whole new meaning to the word treat.

Making salmon candy is a fun, culinary project for the holidays or any weekend — and while the brining and baking process extends the shelf life of the salmon, if you’re anything like me, you won’t be able to keep out of the salmon candy jar for too long.

Besides being texturally distinct from all the other manifestations of salmon in my kitchen, the added sweetness here forges a whole new experience with what is already a unique, robust flavor.

And if the prospect of sweet-centric seafood compels you to howl at the moon with delight, I invite you to check out:

  • Our blog post about the wonders of fish paired with fruit.

  • Our recipe for Quick Mustard Baked Salmon, whose star ingredient is actually fruit preserve!

  • One of my all-time favorite salmon recipes, Hot Honey Broiled Sockeye, courtesy of the Bristol Bay Regional Seafood Development Association.

  • Our recipe for Quick and Easy Citrus Salmon, which, in addition to citrus, also includes honey.

  • Our recipe for Ginger Chili Salmon Cakes, made with a sweet chili sauce and featuring our ground sockeye, which happens to be our current Member Special!

So, here’s to dressing up your meals and treating yourself with the sweet stuff all year long.

Live wild!

Monica
