A Toast to Motherhood and Joy

May 7th, 2026

Another Very Full (of Love) Year of Being a Parent

The most amazing part about this Alaskan life that I share with my husband Arron (WAC Founder + CEO) is, without a doubt, our kids. Being the mother of two young children whose essence truly reflects the magic and chaos of wild, unbridled nature is equal parts scavenger hunt, existential rollercoaster and flood of love — and I wouldn't have it any other way.

As we’ve recently welcomed the Eat Wild cookbook into the world — a project deeply rooted in family stories, Alaska, and the Kallenberg legacy — I’ve found myself thinking even more about what it means to pass something down to our kids. Not just traditions and tales, but ways of seeing the world. A reverence for wild places. A sense of belonging within something larger than ourselves.

Thank you, Universe, for the absolute joy that comes with our babies and for choosing me to lead their way.

Live Wild,

Monica

It was the first year that we felt they were both old enough to go on an extended trip through this vast state, from the lush coastline of Southeast Alaska and out west to the wild reaches of Bristol Bay, where this family and company’s multigenerational legacy is rooted.
