Cooking & Handling

Thawing Tips

To preserve your seafood’s premium taste and texture, we recommend removing the vacuum-sealed packaging and thawing under refrigeration (38F or below) for 10-12 hours or until fully defrosted. Cook your seafood within 1-2 days of thawing.

FAQs

Is the fish wild-caught?

The seafood we source is 100% wild-caught. It's sourced directly from Alaska, where finfish farming in state waters is strictly prohibited — a ban that protects wild species from the ecological impact of industrial aquaculture.

What’s the difference between the curated boxes and customizing a plan?

Curated boxes are our most popular option — a rotating monthly selection. Customizing your plan lets you hand-pick exact species and quantities — this selection stays the same each month until you change it.

What are the portion sizes, and how many meals does a box make?

Portions are individually packed so you can cook exactly what you need without waste. The seafood in our curated boxes is portioned at 5 to 7 oz. per serving, above the FDA's standard 4 oz. serving size for fish. Each box comes with 12 or 24 individual portions:

  • 12-Pack (shipped monthly): about 3–4 meals per week
  • 24-Pack (shipped monthly): about 6–8 meals per week

Limited-Time Products and other seasonal specials vary in size and can be added to your box on top of your regular plan.

How is the fish shipped, and does it stay frozen?

Every box ships frozen and is packed with biodegradable insulation that's designed to keep your seafood frozen through delivery to your doorstep. If the contents of your box ever arrive thawed or damaged, reach out to the Member Experience team right away and we'll make it right!

Can I skip or cancel?

Yes. You can adjust your fish delivery schedule, plan type, frequency and even cancel completely through your account. If you'd prefer, chat with us and we'll help customize your membership to meet your preferences and schedule.

Do I need to be home for delivery?

No, your fish arrives frozen in an eco-friendly, insulated box with the perfect amount of dry ice to keep your seafood frozen until the end of your scheduled delivery day. You'll always get a heads up by email letting you know when your fish is expected to arrive, and you can also sign up for SMS text notifications to get delivery updates right to your phone.

Where is the seafood processed?

All seafood that we source is processed right here in the USA — it never leaves the country. That's actually not the norm in the seafood industry: a lot of seafood (including wild seafood) is shipped overseas for processing before it makes its way back to U.S. shelves. That extra step means more handling, more time in transit, and less traceability. We keep the whole chain domestic — from catch to processing to your door — so you know exactly where the seafood is from and how it has been handled.
