A Summer Shipping FAQ to Answer All Your WAC Box Questions

May 28th, 2026

How to Shift Your Membership to Fit the Season

Summer brings a different rhythm to life. Travel plans. Backyard dinners. Last-minute gatherings. New flavor cravings that complement warmer weather.

So I thought I’d answer a few of the most common questions that tend to pop up this time of year when it comes to your WAC membership — along with a few ways I personally like to approach seafood during the summer months.

“What should I do with my box if I’m traveling?”

You’ve got options!

One option is to change the delivery address for your box, which you can do through your desktop account, the WAC app, or by reaching out to the ever-helpful Member Experience team. If you’re heading to a beach rental, lake house, family cabin, or spending a week with friends, bringing seafood along for the ride can actually be a pretty delightful move. There’s something especially fun about pulling wild salmon or halibut out of the freezer for a shared summer dinner somewhere away from home. And it might even get you off the hook for doing any supplementary grocery shopping, since you’ve already stocked the kitchen with some seriously covetable protein. Just remember to change your delivery address back to your home address once you’re heading back from your travels.

The other option is simply to reschedule your box so it arrives before or after your travels. It’s very easy to adjust your shipping date from the WAC app or your desktop account — or, as always, by reaching out to the Member Experience team to take care of this for you. Personally, I always schedule our box to be delivered before we’re off on any travels, because I love coming home from a trip knowing there’s good food waiting in the freezer. That way, we have options beyond ordering take out or having to immediately run to the store to restock.

“Will my seafood stay frozen during hot weather?”

Yes! Even during heat waves, your seafood should arrive ice cold.

One thing many members don’t realize is that we actually adjust the amount of dry ice packed into boxes throughout the year depending on regional temperatures. In the summer months, the operations team carefully calibrates how much dry ice to include in your box to help ensure everything stays in excellent condition during transit. We have many hot, humid summer seasons under our belt and have successfully shipped frozen seafood through even the most intense heat waves — so don’t fret! From the compostable insulation to constant adjustments of dry ice, your WAC box is designed to stay frozen through the end of your delivery day, no matter when or where you are..

And as always, even if the dry ice has fully evaporated by the time your box arrives, the seafood itself should still be frozen through. If perchance your seafood doesn’t arrive frozen, simply reach out to the friendly Member Experience team and we’ll work with you to make it right.

“I tend to crave different foods and flavors in the summer. Can I change up what’s in my box?”

Absolutely. In my opinion, summer is one of the most exciting times to explore different seafood formats because I find myself looking for new ways to create shared experiences beyond my kitchen table. Backyards, beaches, picnics, hikes, bonfires, the deck of a boat — there are so many more places in which to break bread with others.

One easy way to change things up is by checking out the rotating lineup of Limited-Time Boxes in the Seafood Market. Right now, there are several that feel especially summer-friendly. How about the Alaskan Crab Boil Box or just a full-on box of all Dungeness Crab? Or maybe the Summer Seafood Snack Box, curated with an assortment of ready-to-eat options for easy entertaining or solo snacking.

There’s also the Salmon Burger Box, which gets you 32 pre-seasoned patties made with sockeye salmon that are ready to cook, straight from frozen. I especially love the salmon burgers in the summer because they work both outdoors and indoors. Toss them onto grill grates, into a skillet, or pop them in an air fryer, and they’re done in about 10 minutes — a wonderfully easy, all-purpose protein for days when it’s too hot to think about dinner. If you dare: take a culinary cue from my husband Arron (WAC founder + CEO), who loves melting a slice of cheese onto his salmon burgers.

And if the Limited-Time Boxes don’t perfectly match what you’re craving, remember that you can always customize your plan. Maybe summer for you means loading up on sockeye portions for smoking. Maybe it’s Wild Alaska Pollock Quick Cuts for seafood skewers that you can cook on your fancy new grill. Maybe Hot Smoked Sockeye Salmon is your ideal road trip snack. That’s the beauty of customization — your box can shift right alongside the season, your routines, and whatever kind of cooking feels good to you right now.

However you choose to approach your summer seafood rhythm, we’re here to help make it easy.

Monica
