How to Air-Fry Salmon from Frozen

April 10th, 2024

Air-Frying Salmon from Frozen in Under 20 Minutes

Air frying salmon from frozen is a convenient way to enjoy a quick, healthy meal. You can place the salmon fillet in the air fryer basket and let it cook through from start to finish and have flaky fish in under 20 minutes. Spray the inside of your air fryer basket generously with cooking spray before air-frying, otherwise the salmon will stick.

For even better results, we suggest par-cooking the salmon until the exterior layer of ice has thawed. Then, add a sauce, glaze, or even breadcrumbs drizzled with olive oil. This two-step process enhances the texture of the salmon and ensures that the finished result will be nicely browned.

Simple Tips for Air-Fried Salmon from Frozen

  • Preheat the air fryer to its highest setting (usually around 400F).

  • Use a cooking spray to prevent salmon from sticking to the air fryer basket.

  • For best results, DON’T rinse the ice glaze off the salmon before cooking.

How to Air Fry Salmon from Frozen

Gather your materials and ingredients: Your fillet(s), cooking spray, olive oil, salt and pepper, spatula.

  1. Preheat air fryer to 400F. Spray air fryer basket with cooking spray. Add the salmon to air fryer basket, skin-side down.

  2. Option 1: Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper, then cook for 13 to 15 minutes until the salmon reaches an internal temperature of 120F to 125F.

  3. Option 2: Cook for 5 minutes until exterior of salmon has defrosted. Then, brush with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Top as desired with sauce, spice mix, or breadcrumbs. Cook for 8 to 10 more minutes until the salmon reaches an internal temperature of 120F to 125F.

  4. Allow to rest in the air fryer for 1 minute before removing. Top with sauce, if desired. Enjoy!
