Counting Down to the Winter Solstice, the Wild Alaskan Way

December 8th, 2021

Warm Up by Sharing Wild-Caught Seafood Feasts

As we wind down to the Winter Solstice with shorter, chillier days, it's the perfect opportunity to share seafood feasts with family, friends, neighbors and whomever else might be warming up at your dinner table.

So, in the spirit of togetherness, the recipe team at Wild Alaskan has crafted a few three-course menus built around wild-caught seafood to help you host A Wild Alaskan Winter Celebration. I guarantee you’ll find all the recipes you need to toast the season in this festive guide — whether you’re cooking for just two or for a whole crowd.

And even if you’re not planning to host anything official in the coming weeks, there’s plenty of weeknight culinary inspiration packed into the guide that will have you eating healthy, cozy, and hearty meals until we can all come out of hibernation.

Here’s one sublime recipe from A Wild Alaskan Winter Celebration: an easy Citrus Salad with Miso Butter Broiled Weathervane Scallops. It’s a gorgeous side that celebrates the seasonality of ripe citrus by teaming it up with sweet, tender scallops. Plus, if you know me, you’re well aware of my love affair with miso butter (literally, miso paste mixed with butter), especially when paired with wild-caught seafood. In this particular recipe, the miso butter becomes a savory, caramelized topping on the weathervanes as they broil, no flipping required — a perfect formula of decadence and ease.

P.S. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that we have a member special running right now for a Weathervane Scallops and Spot Prawn Bundle, so if you’ve now got scallops on the mind, you’ll want to add this to your next box before it sells out.

Live Wild,

Monica
