You know how they say that once you say a thing out loud it becomes real?
Well, I’ve been wanting to share a secret for a few years now, so I guess this is the day that it becomes real: I WROTE A COOKBOOK! It’s called EAT WILD: Cooking at Home with the Seafood of Alaska — and I am beyond excited to finally tell you about it.
As of today, EAT WILD: Cooking at Home with the Seafood of Alaska is officially available for presale. The hardcover cookbook will be available in its fully-printed glory later this year, but reserving a copy now means you get a special offer — a sweet deal on your next box. It’s our way to say thank you for being a part of this fish family.
As a Colombian-born woman from Miami and a writer by trade, I never imagined that I would marry a third-generation fisherman from Alaska, a life-altering decision that would plunge me headlong into a wild world of seafood and sustainability. As I like to say, when I married Arron (WAC founder + CEO), I married Alaska. Since then, Alaskan seafood has taken me on an epic culinary journey full of depth and discovery.
As a cookbook, EAT WILD is a document of that journey, a personal account of all of the epicurean delights that I’ve discovered along the way. You’ll find recipes, tips, tricks and all varieties of insights and inspo related to cooking many of the Alaskan species that you’ve come to know through a Wild Alaskan Company membership. There’s also an essay from Arron to root you in his own Alaskan story. And when leafing through the pages of the cookbook, you’ll find hand-drawn illustrations by my sister Dana, a tender connection to my own roots.
There are so many obvious reasons why writing a cookbook makes sense for Wild Alaskan Company, but it’s some of the deeper ones that have shaped EAT WILD into being more than just a cookbook. For starters, one of our core values is creating shared experiences. My hope is that EAT WILD will not only allow us to share some of our most cherished experiences with you, but that you, too, will feel compelled to share them with your own people.
At the heart of it, I wrote EAT WILD as a way to codify the story of my Alaskan family, the import of its legacy and our commitment to serve as its proud stewards — now and always.
I would be honored to know that you’re reserving a little space on your bookshelf or on your kitchen counter in anticipation of this project’s release. You can find the special presale offer, as well as a sneak peek of EAT WILD, right here.
Live Wild!
