How to Bake Wild Alaska Pollock Fillets

March 21st, 2025

Times, Temperatures, and More for Baking Wild Alaska Pollock

Baking is one of the easiest ways to prepare mild, Wild Alaska Pollock fillets. Baking is an incredibly versatile cooking method for this species, since you can pair it your favorite sauces, seasonings, and marinades. When cut into fillets, Wild Alaska Pollock is a healthy protein option for sheet pan meals.

Wild Alaska Pollock fillets naturally have a long, thin shape, reflecting the shape of the fish. It may be easier to handle the fillets if you cut them in half first.

How Long to Bake Wild Alaska Pollock

Wild Alaska Pollock fillets can take between 8 to 10 minutes to bake. The fish will be opaque and flake easily once it's cooked through.

Simple Tips for Perfectly Baked Wild Alaska Pollock

  • Dress fillets with sauces/spices before baking for maximum flavor.

  • Add oil to prevent sticking and enhance flavors.

Yield

1 serving

Ingredients

  • 1 (6 oz.) portion Wild Alaska Pollock fillet
  • Extra-virgin olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • Sauce or seasoning of choice (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 400F.

2. Meanwhile, pat fish fillets dry with a tea towel or paper towel. Season with salt and pepper and arrange in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet or baking dish. Lightly coat fillets with oil so that they don’t stick, then dress with any sauces or spices.

3. Transfer to oven and set timer for 8 to 10 minutes, depending on thickness of fillets. Wild Alaska Pollock is medium-done when it has reached an internal temperature of 130F on an instant-read thermometer at its thickest part, or when it can be flaked easily with a fork. Add more cooking time as needed to reach desired doneness.

Consuming raw or undercooked meats, poultry, seafood, shellfish, or eggs may increase your risk of food-borne illness, especially if you have a certain medical condition. The FDA recommends an internal temperature of 145°F for cooked fish.
