Air Fryer Teriyaki Salmon and Crispy Broccoli

January 16th, 2025

A Quick and Bold Meal

This recipe for air fryer teriyaki salmon pairs broccoli with a bold preparation of wild-caught fish for a quick meal. In the air fryer, the florets of broccoli get crispy, adding texture to the plate. The best part about this air fryer salmon teriyaki recipe is that it’s a fully composed meal that you can make in under 15 minutes — proof that you don’t need to sacrifice flavor or health for speed.

How to Make Air Fryer Teriyaki Salmon from Frozen

You can make this air fryer teriyaki salmon from frozen, too. You'll start by cooking the salmon first, without any seasonings. Then, brush on teriyaki sauce and cook through.

  1. Preheat air fryer to 400F.

  2. Place frozen fish in basket and cook for 5 minutes until semi-thawed.

  3. Drizzle both sides of the fillet with olive oil, generously brush with teriyaki sauce, then return to the air fryer.
  4. Cook for 5 to 7 more minutes, or until flaky and just opaque throughout. Serve with extra teriyaki sauce.

How to Make an Easy Homemade Teriyaki Sauce

This teriyaki-style sauce recipe is a great homemade substitute for store-bought sauce. It takes 5 minutes to make and complements salmon perfectly.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup soy sauce

  • ¼ cup water

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • 1 ⅓ tablespoon rice vinegar

  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 ½ teaspoons cornstarch whisked with 1 ½ teaspoons water

1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, bring soy sauce, ¼ cup water, honey, vinegar, ginger and garlic to a gentle simmer.

2. When mixture comes to a simmer, whisk in cornstarch/water mixture. Stir constantly for about 30 seconds, or until mixture has thickened.

3. Enjoy immediately or store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Yield

2 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 (6 oz.) portions Sockeye Salmon or Coho Salmon
  • 2 ½ cups broccoli, cut into small pieces
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons store-bought or homemade teriyaki sauce (recipe in the blog post above!)

Instructions

1. Preheat air fryer to 375F.

2. Toss broccoli with oil, ½ teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon of pepper.

3. Season salmon fillets with salt and pepper, then brush each with 1 tablespoon of sauce.

4. Line air fryer with parchment. Arrange salmon and broccoli in an even layer and set timer for 8 to 10 minutes depending on thickness of fillet. Salmon is medium-rare when thickest part of fillet registers at 120F on an instant-read thermometer. Broccoli can be left to cook in air fryer for a few minutes after removing salmon until it reaches desired crispness.

5. Transfer salmon and broccoli to serving plate and enjoy immediately.
