Creamy One-Pan Pasta With Salmon and Sun-Dried Tomatoes

August 8th, 2024

A Weeknight Salmon Pasta Recipe

This one-pan pasta recipe is made with lean sockeye salmon and savory sun dried tomatoes, stirred together in a rich cream sauce. Since you’re cooking the pasta in the same pan as the sauce ingredients, the starches help to give the sauce an extra silky consistency.

Make sure to prep all of your ingredients before you start cooking because everything comes together quickly. You can use spaghetti, linguine or any other thicker long pasta — just make sure that the cook time is about 12 minutes, since this will give enough time for the sauce to develop. The pasta will be perfectly cooked by the time the sauce is ready.

Yield

Ingredients

  • 1 (12 oz.) package Ground Sockeye Salmon
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for serving
  • 2 teaspoons salt, divided
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 6 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • ¾ cup (4.5 oz) sun-dried tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • ½ teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 4 ½ cups water
  • 12 oz. linguine or spaghetti
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup parsley, finely chopped
  • Lemon wedges, for serving
  • Flaky salt, for serving

Instructions

1. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large heavy bottomed pot or high-sided skillet over medium-high heat.

2. Add ground salmon, season with ½ teaspoon of salt and press down into an even layer. Cook, undisturbed until opaque and one side is beginning to brown, about 3 minutes. Remove from pan and transfer to a plate.

3. Increase heat to high. Add onion, garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, chili flakes, water, pasta and remaining 1 ½ teaspoons salt to the pan. Submerge and break up the strands of pasta to keep them from sticking to each other.

4. Bring to a simmer, reduce heat to medium-high and cook the pasta, stirring often until most of the liquid has cooked out and the pasta is al dente, about 10 minutes.

5. Reduce heat to medium, then stir in cooked salmon, heavy cream, and chopped parsley. Toss well to coat pasta.

6. Transfer to a serving plate with a drizzle of olive oil, a pinch of flaky salt, and lemon wedges.
